Program Overview
Welcome to Kipepeo Pathways’ Childcare & Child Protection program — where your hands-on contribution supports stronger families and safer, healthier childhoods.
Childcare & Child Protection is one of our flagship volunteering experiences. Together with local communities across Kenya, we co-design and implement practical, family-centred initiatives that improve early childhood care, strengthen child protection systems, and build the capacity of parents, caregivers, and community structures.
Our Promise:
- Community co-owned: Every project is jointly designed, implemented, and owned by the host community (with full veto rights).
- Measurable impact: We track and report 20–30% average community income uplift through direct revenue share + improved childcare infrastructure and caregiver skills.
- Ethical & sustainable: Strictly family- and community-based. Fully aligned with Kenya’s Children Act, UNICEF Child Protection guidelines, and international best practices.
- Skill-matched & professional: Volunteers receive orientation and contribute meaningfully while gaining real-world experience in child development and protection.
Primary Objectives
- Enhance quality, safe, and nurturing childcare in community settings.
- Strengthen child protection awareness and prevention mechanisms.
- Build local caregiver capacity while keeping children within their families and communities.
Measurable Community Impact (tracked and reported post-program)
- Support for community day-care centres, play areas, or early learning spaces.
- Training for parents and caregivers in nutrition, hygiene, positive parenting, and child rights.
- Child protection workshops and awareness campaigns.
- Direct economic benefit: 10–15% revenue share from your trip fee + volunteer labor converted into childcare facilities and training resources.
- Long-term outcome: Safer environments for children, reduced vulnerability, and stronger family-based care systems.
